About the Role:

In this role, you will lead a portfolio of work designed to support current and future project execution activities across Minerals Americas. You will be accountable for defining and implementing the Operational Readiness strategy and plans that ensure large capital projects are fully prepared to deliver their business case and required levels of service.
You will work closely with project and study teams, providing expert guidance on Operational and Business Readiness from early identification through execution. Your contribution will be key to enabling safe ramp-up, managing readiness risks, optimizing capital efficiency and embedding continuous improvement across project delivery.

  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), applying BHP’s risk management framework and fostering a strong risk-aware culture.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Operational Readiness strategies, standards, processes and plans for major capital projects.
  • Support the design and execution of capital optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity within the Operational Readiness program.
  • Provide Operational and Business Readiness expertise to study and project teams, coordinating resources to deliver readiness plans, processes and procedures.
  • Act as the single point of contact for Project or Study Managers on all Operational Readiness inputs and deliverables.
  • Develop Operational Readiness budgets and schedules for both study and execution phases.
  • Lead ramp-up readiness from planning through execution, from Identification to Execution phases.
  • Identify, manage and monitor risks and controls related to the Operational Readiness scope.
  • Coordinate the execution of business readiness methodologies in alignment with project systems and standards.
  • Conduct and support data analytics to drive insights, optimization and continuous improvement in Operational Readiness execution.
  • Enable value creation through the application of continuous improvement practices to standards and procedures.

About You:

  • Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Civil Engineering.
  • Proven experience in process mining for concentrator and hydrometallurgy projects across Identification, Selection, Definition and Execution stages.
  • Experience in Copper and Molybdenum operations, with exposure to concentrators and hydrometallurgy projects (preferred).
  • Experience establishing and maintaining asset hierarchies and maintenance planning systems.
  • Capability in developing standard work instructions, processes, procedures and training programs for greenfield and brownfield plants.
  • Fluency in Spanish and intermediate to advanced English.
  • Availability to travel to operational sites as required.
