The chanllenge ahead:

The purpose of this role is to provides technical expertise in project leadership during study phases in line with BHP standards and requirements, within budget, scope and schedule to assure value for organization.
Support the Project Manager in tactical activities which requires expertise in project study phases.

  • Monitor the study schedule, cost and scope in accordance and compliance with the approved business case, internal and external governance processes and Our Requirements and ensures that deviations / risks are adequately communicated to the relevant stakeholders, managed and rectified
  • Defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing the investment case and coordinating the relevant gate governance processes (or any fund approval) in compliance with Our Requirements and local requirements to ensure transition to the execution phase
  • Identifies opportunities to optimise value, manages associated risks and applies Optimised With/Optimised Without framework principles to create and preserve maximum value from projects across BHP.
  • Support the Project Manager in the use of BHP’s risk management framework (including routines), identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Engage with the Operation / Asset relevant stakeholders through routines, to ensure alignment between the business and the project objectives
  • Provide expertise for the permits stream of works, functioning as a focal point to manage activities, schedule and contracts associated to the project.
  • Integrates and applies internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project with identified opportunities for improvements in project management, increased capital efficiency and productivity
  • Ensures the project is delivered aligned to the BOS Practices, and supports the Project Manager in structuring, preparing and conducting performance routines.

What we expect from you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or related disciplines.
  • Availability for visits to Minera Escondida
  • 10 years of experience in similar roles

  • Postgraduate studies in business/finance or project management.
  • Mandatory: Availability to travel to our operations
