About the Role:
As a Principal, Property & Workplace, you will be accountable for the delivery and governance of workplace and property services across assigned locations, ensuring alignment with BHP standards and business needs. You will act as a trusted partner to stakeholders, translating current and future business requirements into workplace, occupancy, and capital planning strategies. This role provides an opportunity to influence workplace experiences, support strategic business outcomes, and connect local priorities with global Property & Workplace initiatives. You will leverage your expertise across facilities management, workplace operations, real estate, leasing, sustainability, and project delivery to drive continuous improvement, enhance workplace performance, and support safe and sustainable operations. Success in this role requires strong commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, and the ability to balance operational delivery with long-term planning and business priorities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Govern workplace and property services across assigned locations, ensuring compliance with BHP standards, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations.
- Oversee service provider performance and support the effective management of operating and capital expenditure budgets to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality workplace outcomes.
- Develop and implement workplace, occupancy, and capital planning strategies aligned with business priorities and global Property & Workplace frameworks.
- Translate business requirements into location-specific solutions, forecasts, business cases, and investment plans that support current and future operational needs.
- Lead or support workplace and property projects, ensuring effective governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management, business continuity, and successful delivery.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with landlords, service providers, and internal stakeholders to optimize workplace performance and customer experience.
- Identify opportunities to enhance value through market insights, workplace innovation, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the key interface between stakeholders and service providers, ensuring effective workplace operations, service delivery, and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, security, risk, business continuity, and licence-to-operate requirements while supporting emergency preparedness and critical control effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver aligned business outcomes and support portfolio strategy development.
About You:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Property, Project Management, Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Construction, or a related discipline.
- 8-10 years of experience in workplace operations, occupancy planning, property services, or corporate real estate environments.
- Broad experience across key property disciplines including facilities management, leasing, workplace operations, construction, and real estate.
- Experience developing workplace, occupancy, portfolio, or capital planning strategies aligned with business needs.
- Proven experience managing operating and capital expenditure budgets and developing business cases or investment proposals.
- Experience delivering workplace, facilities, property, or capital projects.
- Experience managing service providers, landlords, and commercial relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate business requirements into practical workplace and property solutions.
- Strong track record influencing and engaging senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Project management capability with strong governance and risk management skills.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, risk, compliance, business continuity, and critical control management.
- Knowledge of workplace trends, sustainability practices, and modern workplace solutions.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.
