About the Role:

We are looking for our next Principal Decarbonisation Project Development to develop and advance operational decarbonisation solutions across Minerals Americas by combining technical and commercial expertise in mine planning, electrification and heavy mobile equipment with strong business acumen to structure and progress viable, scalable and implementable initiatives aligned with asset strategies.
Lead the identification, development and maturation of large-scale, capital-efficient decarbonisation opportunities across Minerals Americas by integrating mine design, electrification pathways and commercial structuring.

The role shapes investment-ready solutions that are technically robust, economically viable and aligned with asset strategies, while influencing internal decision-making and external ecosystems to accelerate implementation at scale.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development of decarbonisation initiatives across Minerals Americas, from early definition to implementation.
  • Integrate mine planning, electrification and heavy mobile equipment expertise into commercially viable solutions.
  • Structure and negotiate commercial arrangements with OEMs, technology providers and industry partners.
  • Partner with Asset teams and executive stakeholders to progress initiatives and deliver outcomes.
  • Represent BHP in industry forums and shape sector-level decarbonisation conversations and contribute to BHP Chile’s energy transition.

About You:

  • Degree in Mining, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong technical expertise in mine planning, fleet systems and/or electrification.
  • Solid understanding of mining operations and haulage systems.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen (business case development, partner engagement, solution structuring).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Availability to work from the Santiago office under a hybrid work model.

Recommended:

  • Experience in energy transition or decarbonisation initiatives.
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc, MBA or equivalent).
  • Exposure to infrastructure, energy systems or large OEM ecosystems.
