The challenge Ahead:

The purpose of this role is leads a team focussed on managing technology projects and/or products throughout their assets lifecycle and develops team leaders / teams to deliver high performance.

Core Activities:

  • Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.
  • Conducts benchmarking, implements prioritisation methodologies and identifies key investment drivers to effectively manage key requirements across the portfolio.
  • Supports the management of vendor/customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximise operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP’s exposure to risk.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a project to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes.
  • Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.

What We Expect From You:

Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience (8–12+ years) leading the delivery of complex, technology‑enabled projects and/or programs, with direct accountability for safety, schedule, cost, scope, quality and value outcomes, operating within established enterprise governance and delivery frameworks.
  • Formal project management accreditation (e.g. PMP®, PRINCE2®, MSP®, Agile certifications or equivalent), or demonstrated equivalent experience delivering complex projects within enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Strong project delivery capability, including hands‑on experience in planning, scheduling, change control, risk management and performance tracking for large and complex projects.
  • Availability to work on site.

Recommended:

  • Advanced project, program or portfolio management accreditation, or demonstrated experience operating across multiple projects within a portfolio context.
  • Experience leading technology‑enabled or digital initiatives, including systems implementation, automation, operational technology or data‑driven solutions.
  • Exposure to commissioning, operational readiness and handover to operations, particularly within asset‑based or operational environments.
  • Experience working across regional or global delivery models, supporting alignment with enterprise standards, governance and ways of working.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with exposure to modern delivery practices, performance management, or lean/agile ways of working.
